Snares

                                                                            SNARES                    by Bro. Tim Butler

           THE TRAPPER
(Psa 38:12)  They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
(Eccl 9:12)  For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
(Prov 29:6)  In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
(Prov 29:8)  Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
-The scriptures say that the thief (SATAN) cometh but to KILL,STEAL,AND DESTROY. One way he uses is to SNARE or TRAP
someone.
-We are not ignorant of Satan’s devices. But sometimes we are ignorant of how he uses them.
(2 Cor 11:1)  Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
(2 Cor 11:2)  For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
(2 Cor 11:3)  But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
sub·tle (s¾t“l) adj. sub·tler, sub·tlest. 1.a. So slight as to be difficult to detect or analyze; elusive.
-Satan often uses truth to trip us up and snare us.
(Psa 66:18)  If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
-Satan then gets us to activate our will to get us off of the right way that we travel in Christ Jesus.
-Jesus said “Iam the WAY,the TRUTH,and the light no man cometh to the father but by me”.
-Because STRAIGHT is the gate and narrow is the WAY,which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
-There is a WAY that seemeth right unto a man,but the end therof are the ways of death.
(Heb 10:26)  For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
(Heb 10:27)  But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
(Heb 10:28)  He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
(Heb 10:29)  Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
-Satan knows these scriptures and tries to use them against us. This is how he snares us.
-What is a snare? It is a loop usually made of wire. It is normally set in a well travelled pathway. It is made big enough for the head of the animal to go through. The animals leg then knocks it free from the sticks supporting it then when the startled animal realizes that something is wrong it run’s and strugles to get loose but only succeeds in getting the snare tighter until it cuts off the air and the animal die’s.
-Likewise,when we get snared by the devil in situations and events that happen in our lives: We try to get ourselves free and the situation usually only gets worse. The only hope that we have is to submit to the situation, quit strugling and call on JESUS.
-How do we get snared?
(Josh 23:11)  Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.
(Josh 23:12)  Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
(Josh 23:13)  Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
-Else if ye do in anywise go back! Back to what?
(Luke 9:61)  And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
(Luke 9:62)  And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
(Mat 10:35)  For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
(Mat 10:36)  And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
(Mat 10:37)  He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
(Heb 11:15)  And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
(Heb 11:16)  But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
-Satan uses many devices when he sets up his snares.
-The wise trapper set’s up his traps and snares in an area where there is many signs of his targeted animal in the area. He looks for tracks that show that the prey often comes that way.
(2 Tim 2:24)  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
(2 Tim 2:25)  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
(2 Tim 2:26)  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
-Satan see’s that this person operates in his own will quite often so he is an easy prey.
-Another thing that he does is Listen for growls or barks   that show you are in the area.
(Prov 18:6)  A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
(Prov 18:7)  A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
(Prov 12:13)  The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
-The trapper also many times uses bait to attract our attention to the trap.
(James 1:14)  But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
(James 1:15)  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
(1 John 2:15)  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
(1 John 2:16)  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
-These three things are used to attract us to the trap.
-Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, pride of life.
(Rom 13:14)  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
(Rom 8:5)  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
(Rom 8:6)  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
-Pride of life.
(Prov 20:24)  Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
(Prov 20:25)  It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make inquiry.
-A man tries so hard to go his own way instead of the way that God has chosen for him then wonders why he doesn’t have time to serve God. Paul kicking aainst the pricks.
-A often used set for trapping Fox or wolf or coyote is the scent pole set.
-The scent pole is a pole drivin into the ground and urine from another Fox,ect.... is put on the pole and traps are imbedded in the ground by the pole and covered with dirt.
The prey then comes smells the pole circles it to urinate around the pole itself and is caught in the trap.
The reason the animal wants to urinate is to let the other animals know that this is his territory,(pride)
(Prov 16:18)  Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
(James 4:6)  But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
